The first annual Lens of Equity Summit was held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the McGavick Conference Center in Lakewood. Presented by the Pierce County Community Engagement Task Force (powered by WorkForce Central), the conference provided tangible tools and information on how to build healthy DEAI frameworks for organizations, leadership, individuals, workplaces, and our community.

Featuring keynote speakers, presentations and workshops, and educational resources, the summit showed how organizations, businesses, and individuals can be action-oriented in implementing equity work in Pierce County. Rather than having a more general or generic discussion, the Lens of Equity Summit focused on specific and actionable steps you can take starting tomorrow to truly implement DEAI work and effect greater change.

In 2021, the Pierce County Community Engagement Task Force held the Lens of Equity Mini-Series, a four-part virtual series focusing on the four components of an equitable organization: People, Policy, Practice, and Promotion. The series covered how promoting Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion (DEAI) in an organization can serve the community, increase access, and foster growth, showing the importance of putting DEAI at the forefront of what we do.
