Caprice D. Hollins was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She received a B.A. in psychology from Seattle University and an M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Multicultural and Community Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology―LA.

Dr. Hollins has over 25 years of experience working with ethnically diverse populations, facilitating workshops on racism, and teaching graduate courses, including 20 years with The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology as an Associate Professor of Counseling.

After serving as the first Director of Equity and Race Relations for Seattle Public Schools she co-founded Cultures Connecting, LLC in 2008. Her organization provides culturally relevant professional development, keynotes, leadership coaching, and consulting services to organizations seeking to improve their ability to effectively engage in race conversations and dismantle institutional racism www.culturesconnecting.com.

Dr. Hollins wrote Inside Out: The Equity Leader’s Guide to Undoing Institutional Racism and co-authored Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Strategies for Facilitating Conversations on Race. She is a Seattle 2020 TEDx Speaker, on What White People Can Do to Move Race Conversations Forward.

Christian Paige is an Emmy-nominated spoken word poet, a professional speaker and educator who speaks at schools, conferences, and events across the United States. Paige has spoken to hundreds of thousands of people and loves to work with young people who are committed to doing good in the world. Paige is a first-generation college graduate, an Actsix Scholar and is passionate about community, anti-racism, equity, and empowerment. He has spent his entire career in and around education advocating for historically marginalized populations and working to create equitable environments where young people can thrive. 

Jahmad Canley has an endless dedication to empowerment and education for all people. He is internationally known as a top level culture transformation consultant, peak performance coach, author and masterful story teller. Jahmad focuses on helping people and organizations accomplish their goals and fulfill their potential in their personal, professional, and organizational lives. His passion for helping others unleash their potential has provided him the privilege of working with top organizations such as Microsoft, Amazon, Western Union, LA Phil Harmonic Symphony, USA Swimming and many more.

Getting his start in organization development over 18 years ago, Jahmad has assisted numerous organizations across multiple industries in their quest to create better and more effective cultures. Jahmad’s passion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work started when he entered Washington State University through the Future Teachers of Color Program and continued when he helped create several equity programs for the College Success Foundation including the HERO Program (designed to assist High School aged African American, Latino, and Indigenous males gain access to higher education). Now private and public organizations around the world utilize Jahmad’s unique experiences and ability to transfer Cognitive Science and Culture Transformation processes to improve success rates and remove barriers in creating cultures of equity and belonging.

QuadC (Complimentary Colors Consulting Collective) —is an anti-racist, action-based group of Black, Brown, and Indigenous members. We worked with Workforce Central to co-design solutions and strategies rooted in trust, understanding, collective joy and equity. Through this case study, we will share key lessons on implementing DEAI principles, building authentic community relationships, and creating spaces where marginalized voices lead. Corenna Khieu is a passionate advocate for social justice, political advocacy, and public health. She has dedicated her life to making a meaningful impact in her community and beyond. Born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, Corenna holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration, equipping her with the knowledge and skills to address complex societal challenges.

As a wife, mother of three, published author, podcast creator, convener for the Just and Healthy Food System, and Quad C consultant, Corenna wears many hats while remaining deeply committed to community service. She has worked with women’s and youth shelters across the region, offering support and resources to those in need. Driven by a desire to empower young people, she founded the Aiming Higher program, which inspires students from grades 6 through 12 to dream big. Through partnerships with businesses and programs, Aiming Higher seeks to help youth gain invaluable experiences and opportunities to build bright futures.

With a steadfast commitment to fostering growth and positive change, Corenna will continue on a pathway that offers hope and inspiration for her community.

Glenda Duldulao

Glenda Duldulao is a mother that brings lived experiences as a 1.5 generation immigrant from the Philippines, growing up in a working-class family and neighborhood, being the first in her family to graduate high school, go to college and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Family Resources and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a focus on community planning.

Glenda has been engaged with community outreach, engagement, and relationship-building in communities of color for over 10 years, has over 5 years of experience in government human services procurement, and has worked in large, small non-profit organizations, and community-led and driven organizations.

Grounded in relationships and community, ancestral knowledge and wisdom, equity and social justice, Glenda is committed to building authentic relationships, rooted in connectedness, for the shared purpose and a commitment to actively work towards a future where we all thrive.

Corwin Scott

Corwin Scott, the staunch Tacoma-area community leader, is the recipient of an accolade he is due to receive on Saturday, July 30th. He is being recognized for his tireless work with everyone from local organizations to Tacoma, King, and Snohomish county residents. His reach is far and success measured by the success of those who stop him in the street to update them on how they’ve turned their lives around. Corwin has said “When people stop to tell me I’ve changed their lives, I tell them you’ve changed your own life. I just helped provide tools to do it.”

A professional facilitator and visual practitioner with a passion for food system work, process building and community participatory budgeting. At the United Way of Pierce County, he spearheaded the launch of the Center for Strong Families, managing a $2.5 million investment to support family financial stability. As a Senior Policy Analyst for the City of Tacoma, he focused on integrating equity into city policies and developed an Interim Language Access Policy to improve service access for non-English speakers.

Korbett’s role at the Metropolitan Development Council involved managing over 178 affordable housing units, ensuring vital services continued during the pandemic. At the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council, he led workforce initiatives across five counties, prioritizing support for justice-impacted youth and adults.

Now serving as the Managing Director of the Community Reinvestment Plan at the Washington State Department of Commerce, Korbett oversees a $200 million budget dedicated to addressing social, racial, and economic disparities. His impactful work has earned him the Tacoma Urban League Trailblazer Award and the Rotary 8 Community Service Award. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from Evergreen State College-Tacoma.

Dr. John “Push” Gaines is a highly successful and much sought-after CEO, founder of the non-profit organization PUSH for Dreams, best-selling author and renowned speaker, leadership consultant, and mentorship advocate. He is celebrated for his organic, kind-hearted approach and heartfelt enthusiasm in connecting with audiences and tackling important issues with positivity.

Dr. Gaines is dedicated to motivating students, teachers, administrators, professionals, and communities through his personal experiences, trauma, and unique challenges, inspiring them to push through obstacles and be their best selves.

Norman Brickhouse, Manager of the Fife Jobs Program, brings over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector and a background in mortgage lending to his work helping individuals transition from homelessness to stable housing. He serves on the boards of Continuum of Care and Northwest Furniture Bank, is the Co-Leader of the Pierce County Community Engagement Taskforce, and previous past President of the Homeownership Center Northwest. A dedicated volunteer with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program for eight years, Norman also contributes to the North Pierce County Community Coalition and the Pierce County Coalition to End Homelessness. Known for his collaborative spirit, he fosters partnerships to address diverse community needs, and he describes himself as “just a cool person all around,” reflecting his approachable nature and commitment to positive change.

Elvin Bucu has dedicated 20+ years to advancing the educational and professional outcomes for marginalized youth and families in communities across Western Washington. He currently serves as the Sr. Director of Development for the Foundation for Tacoma Students, a collective impact organization focused on equitable outcomes for all students, cradle to career. Prior to joining FFTS, Elvin was the Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound, where he spent the majority of his time supporting children, families, and the youth development professionals dedicated to serving them. He is first-generation Filipino-American and a proud graduate of the University of Washington.

Kendra Jones is an experienced consultant with over 10 years in human services, specializing in workforce development and programs that help individuals transition back into their communities after being involved with the legal system. A graduate of the Evergreen State College-Tacoma Program with a degree in law, government, and public policy, she has played a key role as a Strategy Officer at the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council, forming partnerships that connect employers with skilled individuals seeking new opportunities. Her work as a community researcher on the Community Reinvestment Plan (Department of Commerce) addresses disparities caused by past policies. Active in the Tacoma Black Collective and a member of the Social and Legal Justice Committee, Kendra supports families and communities through her leadership. She has also led partnerships with local organizations and facilities through her consulting firm, KJ Jones, ensuring effective community reintegration. Her ongoing efforts include raising mental health awareness in Black and Brown communities, uniting families, and helping them break free from poverty.

Vision Step Team is a nonprofit organization based in Tacoma, Washington, founded by Chelsea McElroy in 2016. The organization focuses on empowering Black girls through the art of stepping, a percussive dance tradition rooted in African and African American culture. Vision Step Team provides opportunities for self-expression, leadership development, and cultural connection while fostering a sense of community and belonging. In addition to stepping, the organization engages in literacy and education initiatives, such as its partnership with the City of Tacoma for the “Read Across Tacoma” program, which distributes books by and for Black youth and offers family-friendly activities like sing-a-longs and stepping lessons. The nonprofit welcomes youth of all backgrounds to participate in its programs.

Alecia Cunningham is a dedicated professional with a passion for youth development and community engagement. At the age of 41, she has amassed a wealth of experience as a Development Director in the field of youth education and empowerment. Her career has been marked by a tireless commitment to nurturing the potential of young minds and fostering their growth. Alecia’s commitment to community service extends to her role of Vice Chair of the University Place Parks Commission, Rotary 8 Tacoma, and board member of the Neighborhood Clinic.

Her contributions have been invaluable in supporting the development and enhancement of parks in both University Place and Pierce County. Her outstanding dedication to her field and community was recognized when she was named as part of the class of 2020 “40 Under 40” by South Sound Business magazine. This honor reflects her influence and leadership in the South Sound. Alecia is currently the Senior Director of Development for Summer Search Seattle and the CEO of Taproot Consulting.

When she is not giving back to her community, you can find Alecia spending time with her four sons: Macin, Kholl, Carter and Benjamin.

Norinda has an infectious enthusiasm for change and delivers a highly engaging and impactful experience that will keep you motivated long after your time together has ended. Born and raised in the city of brotherly love, Norinda Rosario Yancey has served community for over 30 years via public, private and nonprofit sectors. A dynamic and gifted strategist, trainer, presenter, and storyteller, Norinda has helped individuals and organizations across the country bring their best selves to life.

Norinda’s earliest years of employment focused on providing administrative support to a wide variety of businesses including Fortune 500, nonprofit, broadcasting, and government. During that time, she developed a knack for designing processes that maximized resources and outcomes while centering the needs and experience of clients, customers, and community. After surviving spinal meningitis in 2000, Norinda returned to college as a thirty-something wanna-be-career-switcher looking to change her life. While volunteering at her children’s elementary school she was offered a part-time work study opportunity as a reading coach that eventually inspired a focus on education. A proud graduate of Community College of Philadelphia’s Honors program and Rosemont College in Pennsylvania with degrees in Humanities, English and Communications respectively, Norinda became a reading specialist for struggling K-12 readers at risk for retention and dropout. It was here that Norinda developed a multicultural, multidisciplinary and multisensory approach to inclusion and cultivated the ability to engage, inspire, and develop others.

Her experience as a parent, volunteer, and teacher inspired a return to Norinda’s nonprofit roots serving as community impact lead for United Way of North Central Florida in Gainesville United Way of Pierce County in Tacoma, Washington where she directed investments in school-based and community-wide initiatives focused on education, health, financial literacy, and immediate needs, co-developing and leading Tacoma’s first 21-Day Equity Challenge engaging over 800 participants, as well as the 5-Day Asian and Pacific Island (AAPI) and Hispanic Heritage Celebration Challenges and respective community conversations in collaboration with the AAPI and Hispanic-Latine communities. In her role as founder and president of Fierce Buddha, LLC, Norinda has also had the privilege of working with City of Tacoma, City of Seattle, Washington Department of Commerce, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, Metropolitan Development Council, Making a Difference Foundation, Safe Street, and United Way of Thurston County.

Norinda is happily married to the love of her life and has three adult children, two grandchildren and a black lab named Kuma. Her favorite pastimes include reading, playing Tetris, and mentoring young leaders.

Zenovia Harris is a certified diversity professional, certified psychological safety facilitator, and the CEO of Zenovia Harris Consulting. Known for her impactful DEI initiatives, Zenovia made history in 2019 as the first African American CEO of the Kent Chamber of Commerce, representing one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. With over two decades of experience in higher education, sales, and marketing, she has developed inclusive programs that drive organizational success. Zenovia is the creator of the “21-Day Bias Challenge,” which empowers individuals to recognize and reduce bias. Her work has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the prestigious 2023 Larry Gossett Service Award for her contributions to racial equity, social justice, and human rights. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in public administration and serves as an adjunct faculty member in Business, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship at Green River College.

Ricardo is a people and systems thinker who moves silently, but decisively to bridge the gap between the underrepresented and marginalized and entities with the power and financial leverage to enact reform and transformation in those communities. In addition to serving as a Division Manager at Tacoma Water, Ricardo is also a youth, collegiate, and masters Track & Field Coach, an 8-year combat veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as an infantry officer, an angel investor for minority businesses, and a husband and father of two.

Megan Clark is a Family Support Liaison for Tacoma Public Schools. She is a passionate advocate for family and community connection, dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships between families, schools, and the broader community. With a strong background in building bridges between families and resources, Megan works to create inclusive and equitable engagement practices that support families and students. Her work centers on creating supportive spaces, elevating family voices, inspiring youth, and celebrating resilience. Megan’s commitment reflects her deep dedication to ensuring every individual feels seen, supported, and valued.

Rachael Pease, a Tacoma native and passionate advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and access, is a transformational leader committed to creating pathways for underrepresented communities. As the newly appointed Chair of the National Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Committee on Inclusion Growth and Vendor Diversity Director at BNBuilders, Rachael focuses on breaking barriers, fostering belonging, and ensuring access for businesses and individuals in Pierce County and beyond.

A board member for Workforce Development in Pierce County, Rachael collaborates with local organizations to expand career opportunities and promote economic inclusion. She partners with Tacoma and Federal Way Public Schools on Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, preparing students for real-world success, and serves on the Palmer Scholars committee, supporting underserved youth in achieving their educational and career goals.

Deeply rooted in Tacoma, Rachael’s advocacy centers on the power of local investment to build inclusive, thriving communities. At the 2025 Lens of Equity conference, she will share her vision for fostering access and belonging while driving systemic change, inspiring others to create spaces where everyone can succeed.

Morris Aldridge, with 39 years in education, currently heads planning and construction for Tacoma Public Schools (TPS). Holding an undergraduate degree from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s in Education from Sul Ross State University, Morris has played key roles as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent in Texas. TPS, the only Washington state school district with agency certification in Design Build, reflects Morris’s commitment to innovative approaches.

Having served as the past President of the DBIA NW Western Washington Chapter, Morris currently holds the position of DBIA Northwest Regional President and is a member of the DBIA National Board. He leads a Design-Build roadshow, guiding public school districts in transitioning from traditional design-bid-build to Progressive Design-Build. Morris Aldridge’s impact extends beyond TPS, making him a respected speaker in facilities planning, capital projects, and construction bond initiatives.

Aleeta Angel Davis is a lifelong Tacoma resident and works within the Planning and Construction Office at Tacoma Public Schools, under the leadership of Morris Aldridge. With degrees in Business and Organizational Leadership, Angel brings a strategic perspective to promoting inclusive community engagement. Passionate about empowering Black-owned businesses, Angel actively supports entrepreneurs in achieving success and fulfilling their purpose through initiatives such as Doing it Does it.

Through collaborations and community focused strategies, Angel is committed to driving positive change and creating equitable opportunities, ensuring we can all be successful, self-sufficient members in the communities where we live and serve.

Ubie Stagg, owner, project manager, and estimator of Excel Electric of Tacoma for over 31 years, exemplifies dedication to his community and craft. With 45 years of experience in the electrical field, Ubie has developed extensive expertise and a strong reputation in the industry. Educated through Tacoma Public Schools, he completed his electrical apprenticeship and journeyman training in Tacoma, further deepening his connection to the region. At Excel Electric, Ubie focuses on providing exceptional electrical services within Tacoma, emphasizing a commitment to supporting the local community. As a licensed electrical administrator and a 11-year member of the NECA Board, he brings decades of leadership and insight to the electrical industry.

Krista Perez is a contract manager at the Washington State Department of Commerce, overseeing $64 million in workforce development, economic development, small business support, and local advisory teams. As an advocate for equity, she brings a wealth of experience in fostering inclusive economic growth and community building.

A graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in Law, Economics, and Public Policy, Krista has held diverse roles across law, education, housing, and economic development. She is the founder of the Tacoma Women of Color Collective, co-founder of The Community Market, and leads Perez Consulting, focusing on diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion. A published author, her book Unearthing Our Roots underscores her dedication to empowering communities and amplifying marginalized voices.

Leah is a passionate leader in health equity and community engagement, known for building dynamic partnerships to tackle health disparities and uplift communities. A proud graduate of The Evergreen State College, she lives by its motto, “Enter to learn, depart to serve.” Leah chairs the Health Committee of the Tacoma-Pierce County Black Collective and serves on several boards, including the Evergreen State College Foundation Board of Governors, First 5 Fundamentals, and the Executive Committee of Leaders in Women’s Health. At the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, Leah combines policy smarts and data savvy to drive equity-focused solutions. When she’s not creating change, you’ll find her cheering on youth sports at a local park, singing karaoke with friends or rolling through life on her skates.

Brandon Simmons is the founder of The Skoolie Foundation, a local business owner, and a passionate community advocate. A former Marine who has experienced firsthand the challenges of poverty and homelessness, Brandon is committed to creating systemic change and advocating for equity. Through The Skoolie Foundation, he bridges gaps in housing, education, and opportunity, ensuring that underserved communities have access to essential resources. As a father and a leader, Brandon is deeply dedicated to building a more just and inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
